Snowflakes whisper an evergreen breeze,
Silent comfort with feelings of ease.
Twilight hums its gentle refrain,
Stars weave a glow, a fragile chain.
A simple peace in the still of night,
Headlights carve through the soft moonlight.
The hum of tires on snow-kissed ground,
A tender calm in the silence found.
Beside him, the world slips away,
Bound by the road and words he won’t say.
The wheel in his hands, our path unclear,
Yet in this moment I feel no fear.
The road stretched on, a muffled stream,
His hands steady, his focus a dream.
A shift to the left, a fleeting sway,
Then I glimpsed a shadow—a truck in our way.
A breath, a blink, too late to cry,
A flash of steel in the corner of my eye.
The world upended, the silence torn,
A bitter hush, swiftly airborne.
Time slowed to a heartbeat’s pace,
As I turned, helpless in empty space.
My eyes beseeched, our paths entwined,
And whispered, “I love you”, one last time.
The moment stretched, eternal and deep,
Yet vanished quickly, a passing leap.
The car descended on its hood,
And into the void, everything stood.
The silence consumed, the darkness vast,
A fleeting calm, now shattered and past.
And with that end, my world awoke,
A dream undone, the spell had broke.
From the dark, a truth took shape,
A silent farewell, no escape.
From the dream, a stark sign took hold,
Our journey ended, the story now told.
Like snowflakes melting in a moment’s dawn,
Our path dissolved, its purpose gone.
A dream spoke truths I dared not see,
An end that whispered, ‘Let it be.’
